The IEEE Sabah Subsection is organizing the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology 2021 (IICAIET2021), co-organized by the Artificial Intelligence Research Unit, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the Faculty of Robotics and Design, Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT), which will be held at Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia from 13 to 15 September 2021.
The conference will provide an excellent platform for knowledge exchange between researchers working in the areas of Artificial Intelligence. Prospective authors are invited to submit a full paper (4-6 pages) describing original work on all aspects of artificial intelligence.

The IEEE Sabah subsection was organized the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology 2020 (IICAIET2020), co-organized by the Artificial Intelligence Research Unit, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the Faculty of Robotics and Design, Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT), which was held at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia from 26 to 27 September 2020.

The membership talk was held on 05 December 2019th at Main Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The talk was jointly organized by IEEE Sabah Subsection and Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences. It was conducted by Associate Professor Dr. Kashif Nisar from IEEE Sabah Subsection. The aim of the talk is to give an overview, exposure and enhance IEE Sabah Subsection memberships. During the event, participates were given the opportunity to become an IEEE member.

The IEEE Project Competition was held on 2nd May 2019 at Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Kota Kinabalu. The aim of the competition is to provide a platform to exhibit undergraduate students’ research and design projects. The event consists of three categories, which are third-year Design Project Competition, fourthyear Final Year Project competition and Final Year Project Presentation. Seven industrial judges assisted by 12 academicians from different faculties and programs managed to judge the overall 101 participants. In conjunction with the competition, research talk and career talk titled by “Knowledge Transfer of Artificial Intelligence Research to Industry” and “Challenge of EE Engineering in Industry” are presented to 148 Electrical & Electronic Engineering students.

IEEE Night was held on 14th April 2019 at Grand Borneo Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. A total of 120 students with 9 lecturers participated in this event. The dinner is conducted to appreciate the former committees of IEEE UMS Student Branch and also to award students who have good academic and co-curriculum achievement. Three awards are granted during the dinner which are Dean-list Award, Robocon Achievement Award and Overseas Internship Award.
IEEE Sabah Subsection had successfully organized IEEE Membership Talk on 9 March 2019 at Politeknik Kota Kinabalu. Our committee member, Assoc. Prof. Dr Kashif Nisar represented the IEEE Sabah Subsection to deliver the talk. The objective of this talk was aimed to promote the IEEE benefits, membership and leadership in Sabah. This event was attended by over 24 academicians from Politeknik Kota Kinabalu.

2018 Leadership Camp & Strategic Meeting Retreat

Date: 10-11 March 2018 (Saturday and Sunday)
Venue: Nilai Spring Resort Hotel, Putra Nilai
IEEE Malaysia Section had successfully organized Leadership Camp and Strategic Meeting Retreat on 10-11th March 2018, at Nilai Spring Resort Hotel. Our committee members, Dr. Yew Hoe Tung (Treasurer) and Dr. Tan Soo Fun (ExeCom) represented IEEE Sabah Subsection to attend this event for the first time. The objective of Leadership Camp was to enhance the leadership among committee members of IEEE Malaysia sub-sections, technical chapters, councils and affinity groups. Subsequently, Strategic Meeting Retreat aimed to assist committee members to prepare and align theirs annual activities and financial plans. This year the event was attended by over 40 participants from 2 IEEE Malaysia Sub Sections ( Sabah and Sarawak), 3 Affinity Groups and 25 technical chapters.
Over 35 participants from IEEE Sabah Subsections, 25 technical chapters, 2 Affinity groups and Young Professionals attended Strategic Meeting Retreat Events on 11 March 2018.
